A Brief History of Bear 854 Divot

Divot was first identified back in 2004 as a subadult, and was thought to be a 1st year cub in 2002. She has had 4 litters of cubs (2013, 2016, 2020, 2023). Divot is said to have gotten her nickname from her digging holes “divots” on the beach of Naknek River. On July 30th of 2014, a snare was removed from around Divot’s neck leaving a scar that could be seen throughout the rest of her time at Brooks River.

Bear 854 Divot is fishing near from the Riffles Platform area on July 10th, 2016. In this picture you can see the scar around her neck from the 2014 snare that was removed.
